ringo became the drummer after pete was removed from the band. great band though, my favorite :)

The Beatles had a number of drummers before Ringo, including (for one night only) a local thug who "volunteered" to play for them!ISTR, their first drummer was called Thomas Moore, Pete Best was the last drummer before Ringo, Andy White was a session drummer who played on the second version of Love Me Do.
