How do you determine if a covalent bond is polar or nonpolar?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you find the electronegativity difference (i.e. subtract one from the other) between the two atoms that make up the bond .

OpenStudy (aaronq):

if it's more than 0.4 then it's polar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@aaronq where do I find the electronegativity of an atom?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

on the periodic table. like this one http://ptable.com
