You will need this theorem:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would AD=13?

Directrix (directrix):

AB*AD = AE*AC 7*(7 + x) = 6*13 where x = BD. Solve for x @neardtron1 Check to make sure I entered the numbers correctly, please. Thanks.

Directrix (directrix):

>>would AD=13? I did not get that.

Directrix (directrix):

Solve this and you won't have to guess: 7*(7 + x) = 6*13 where x = BD. Solve for x @neardtron1

I am still confused, whenever I try to calculate it I get a weird number

Directrix (directrix):

7*(7 + x) = 6*13 49 + 7x = 78 7x = 29 x = 29/7 is approx 4.14 AD = AB + BD = 7 + 4.14 = 11.14 --> what I got.

Thank you! I understand now
