which is NOT a physical change? a. grating cheese b. melting c. ferminting of cheese d. mixing two cheeses in a bowl

OpenStudy (abb0t):

physical change means that you are changing the composition of something from one state to another. That means yu go could go from (s) \(\rightarrow\) (l) or (l) \(\rightarrow\) (g) or (g) \(\leftarrow\) (l), etc., However, you're not changing the chemistry of it. That means that you're not adding anything to it to make it different.

I believe it would be C. Fermenting of cheese because to ferment something is to essentially make it into an alcohol correct? That would be changing its chemical makeup, therefore justifying it a chemical change -- not physical.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c. that is a chemical change
