Anthony has a cup full of nickels and dimes that he would like to put in his savings account. When he takes the cup to the bank, the banker tells him that the 566 coins in the cup are worth $43.80. Which of the following systems of equations models the coins in Anthony’s cup? Let n represent nickels, and d represent dimes.

OpenStudy (nikato):

so u can sent up 2 equation. n+d=566 0.05n+0.10d=43.80 do u see how i got those 2 equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! thank you so much

OpenStudy (nikato):

so by substituion, u should be able to find one of the variables and then just plug it back into one of the eqations, to solve for the other one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah i'm learning this in school i'm just not good with word problems.

OpenStudy (nikato):

can u do the rest by urself and then tell me what u get? or do u want to go over together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well originally the question was just asking how to set up the problem which you answered correctly. If you'd like to that's fine with me.

OpenStudy (nikato):

oh, i didnt really read it. but i can quickly go over it and u can try to follow along

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sounds good.
