(Please answer this, I will give out MEDALS!!!!!!!!!) Use a fraction to estimate the percent of each number. In 2000, there were about 210,000,000 Americans eligible to vote for president. About 50% of eligible voters did not vote that year. Al Gore got 48% of the votes that were cast. About how many votes did Gore receive?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[210,000,00 * .5 * .48 = votes Al got\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hobbs978 Would the answer be "50,400,000"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because there's an example to know how to do it to get the right answer. Example: 27 of 63 = 25% ● 63 = 1/4 ● 60 = 15 27% of 63 is about 15.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes the answer is 50.4 mil

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50.4? @hobbs978

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50400000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since 50% of the people voted you multi the total by .5 then since Al got 48% you have to multi by .48

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay. Then which is the real answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50400000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50,400,000? And are you sure? Because, did you looked at the example?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes :P or you can wait a little for someone to check it
