The cause of the decline of the Roman Empire happens due to many factors. The Empire had Split into two, The Prosperous East, and the Declining West. The West was constantly being threatened by Barbarians such as Atilla The Hun and The Hunnic Tribes. Eventually the Barbarians proved to much for the declining Western half and they were overrun by Germanic tribes. The Eastern Empire based in Constantinople lasted for another thousand years as the Byzantine Empire until it was taken by the Ottomans.
