solve by elimination a+b=1/3 a-b=1/4

OpenStudy (loser66):

add them together to find a then plug back either of them to get b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whatttttt?

OpenStudy (loser66):

I don't think my sentence is too ambiguous to understand. hiihihi, just do it.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Winner66 is right. You have two equations in two unknowns. Just add them together, term by term. What happens to b? Take care in combining those fractions, 1/3 and 1/4 (find the LCD and use it).

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You'll end up with a new equation in a only (b has disappeared thanks to subtraction). Solve the resulting equation for a. Then what?
