It gives you one of its sides and the hypotenuse( the side length of triangle cut out ) which is 12 and 20 respectively. Now use the pythagorean theorem to say 12^2 + h^2 = 20^2 144 + h^2 = 400 h^2 = 256 h = 16 So the height is 16. The width is simply 32 ( an equal part is getting cut off of one side ). The area is 16 * 32 = 512
