So the area will equal Width times Height.

Now for the height look at the dotted triangle. It gives you one of its sides and the hypotenuse( the side length of triangle cut out ) which is 12 and 20 respectively.

Now use the pythagorean theorem to say
12^2 + h^2 = 20^2
144 + h^2 = 400
h^2 = 256
h = 16

So the height is 16.

The width is simply 32 ( an equal part is getting cut off of one side ).

The area is 16 * 32 = 512
