check my answer! I will give a medal!

Answer choices: I got 1.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know if it will be "all real numbers" or "no solution". Can someone tell me the difference?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cannot take the roots out due to addition inside the radical use 1 as a value for x and see if your answer works

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, you are saying that the 2 equations = each other?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought you meant the second one was your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is my work, I have to do it in picture format for me teacher, and list the steps, but here it is!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ehuman I did the work for it, but I have to figure out if the equation has "no solutions" or "all real solutions"

OpenStudy (zpupster):

what was your first step??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

has no solution means no matter what value you use for x, it is not true all real solutions mean no matter what value you use for x, they are all true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my first step was to solve for "x"

OpenStudy (zpupster):

how did you do that??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3√3 = 3√(-2+4x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you divide both sides by 3 so now it equals: √(-2+4x) = √3

OpenStudy (zpupster):

this is what you posted

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then I multiplied each side with itself, so now i have: -2+4x=3 add 2 to both sides: 4x+5 X = 1.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I used the website Wolfram Alpha to get it into the format that I need it in. It's one of the sites my teacher allows for help

OpenStudy (zpupster):

i am not sure what you posted in wolfram but here is how you solve these type equations sqrt(36x-9) = 3sqrt(4x-2) square both sides 36x-9 = 9(4x-2) 36x-9 = 36x-18 getting x on one side by subtracting 36x from both sides gets rid of the x no solutions
