OpenStudy (anonymous):

mmm.... this is going to take my brain a bit to figure ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats fine, this one is even more confusing than the others!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you remember learning about 'similar triangles' like if you had two triangles and one was bigger than the other, but they had the same angles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i dont think i learned that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I gotta go soon, fyi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you havent? then i'll do my best! |dw:1387486999210:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i just need to finish this then id be ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the big one is just like the small one except it's bigger

|dw:1387487093592:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I can say that the ratio of: \[\frac{a}{b}=\frac{A}{B}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then I can apply this to the problem let a=x+8 b=4x+3 A=4x+3 B=187

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug these into the ratio, and we get: \[\frac {x+8}{4x+3} = \frac{4x+3}{187}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now we can solve for 'x'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is the only way I know how to solve this, but there might be an easier way that you have learned or will learn in class. ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, i think i can figure this one out
