I guess one thing you could say about the Crusades was that they were all failures. Only the First Crusade was really effective in achieving what they had set out to do, and just barely. After that, it all went slowly downhill from there. The Great Schism between Christians from the West (centered on Rome) and the East (centered on Constantinople) was also made worse because of the Fourth Crusade. In that one, Crusaders essentially pillaged Constantinople to pay for boats that would take them to Egypt.
