OpenStudy (stormswan):

you have to try to figure it out on your own. this is very easy. First, say it out loud. A number divided by 5 is 3 more than -6. So how much is 3 more than -6? What do you think the words 'more than' means? It means plus, or +. so what's 3+-6? its -3. so now you know that the answer is supposed to be -3. Now, back to the first part. a number divided by 5. You don't know what that number is. so you need to find out. You see the answers? A.-45 B.-30 C.-15 D.-5. That is what you put into the equation. so start from A. -45 divided by 5. What does that equal? it equals -9. what is 3+-6 again? its -3. Is that what we got? no. Now move on to the next one. B. -30 divided by 5 = -6. No, that's not it either. Now try C. -15 divided by 5 =? you figure it out.
