A dog owner buys a 50 lbs bag of dog food. Each day she used 2 lbs of dog food to feed her dogs. After 15 days how much dog food remains?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This can be written as an equation. We start with 50 because that's how much she has to start. Then she's using that food up (it's going away), so we know we're subtracting. How much we're subtracting is 15 (days) times 2 (pounds). So... 50 - 2*15 = x (where x is our answer). Remember: order of operations says you multiply that 2*15 before subtracting anything from 50. Good luck!

nice explanation :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm thinking it's 35? @dkco

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your thinking wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, 2*15 is 30. So think of this as 50 - 30, which leaves 20. See if you can get it again.
