Find the slope and y-intercept of the line. y = x – 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Slope for this is easy because it's going to be whatever number is the coefficient of x (so just 1). For y-intercept, set x to 0. Always set x to 0 to find y intercepts and y to 0 to find x intercepts. So y=0-5. I'll let you solve for y! :)

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

This form (y=mx+b) of the equation of a line is called the slope-intercept form, m being it's slope and b being its y-intercept

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

P.S. It's called the slope-intercept form because you can see the slope and the intercept of the line directly
