Can anyone help me understand this ? Please/........
Light is an electromagnetic wave but photon exhibit matter waves, rather the de broglie waves. And photon are electrically neutral. Then how could light be an electromagnetic wave. Is it like that in the particle nature light is not an electromagnetic radiation but a matter wave...
mmm... if i'm following your question, a light wave doens't become a 'particle' or a 'photon' till it hits and object.
*an
According to planck in the electromagnetic waves energy is distributed in the form of packets or the discreet energy photons, right? But later broglie associated that the particle waves and these waves are not electromagnetic. If light is an electromagnetic radiation then in the particle waves should also be electromagnetic.
Is it like this that light is an electromagnetic wave but in the particle form it exist as photon and waves associated with the photons are called the matter waves or the de broglie waves and these waves are not electromagnetic rather.
^_^ you've gone over my head now!
@DemolisionWolf this thing is going over my head too.. I am not able to understand this at all.
No one understands it. Strange phenomena indeed!
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
See this...photons are the carriers of the electromagnetic force yet they are electrically neutral. In fact an electromagnetic field is nothing but an area of photon waves!
Is that inside the particles there is waves... I am not getting this description
Nope. There are no waves in the particulate nature of light. Waves...are probabilistic.
Than the matter waves associated with, they are just probability regions right? defined by the wave function right ?
Maybe...but I'm not sure there.
Ok..
This phenomena is so bizarre, scientists can only confide in their mathematics as a streak of hope to understand this phenomena.
But Scrodinger equation was able to give the probability. I suppose if we consider the de broglie waves to be the probability waves. Than everything could be understood. I suppose you were right. De broglie waves are just probability waves. :)
Light sometimes behaves like waves (interference, diffraction) and sometimes like particles (photoelectric effect). Not really understood.
