Ratio problem help! THANK YOU!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am verifying if I am correct or not. @Luigi0210

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Anything geometry related, I can't really help with, sorry :(

OpenStudy (alekos):

they dont look similar to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is your reasoning?

OpenStudy (alekos):

because angle BCD doesnt equal angle IJK

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about this one? Was I correct?

OpenStudy (alekos):

yeah thats fine. these triangles are similar

Directrix (directrix):

>> What is your reasoning? >> because angle BCD doesnt equal angle IJK I don't see any reason to conclude that to be the case. If the two figures are similar, the lengths of corresponding sides must be in proportion. FG/MN = 1/1 which is inconsistent with the other corresponding sides which are given to be in a 2 to 2 ratio. Therefore, the figures are not similar.

OpenStudy (alekos):

I agree, but if the sides are in proportion, then the angles will also be equal

Directrix (directrix):

>>>but if the sides are in proportion, then the angles will also be equal Not true. @alekos These two quadrilaterals have sides in proportion but the angles are not congruent. |dw:1387537574807:dw|
