Melissa and Kyle went on a trip to visit relatives. On the way there, Melissa drove and averaged about 34 mph. On the way home, Kyle drove and averaged about 50 mph. If the total drive time was 21 hours, how long did Melissa drive? How long did Kyle drive?

OpenStudy (barrelracer011):

well you have the formula D=R(T) what you would do is fine how many miles the both drove which is Kyle: 1050 Kelly:672. Then to find the time at which they drove you have to take the rate at which they drove and divide it by the distance in order to get there time they both traveled.

Thank you!
