In medieval European society, was the king or the pope the most powerful figure? A.The King, because the Church had no control over armies. B.The Pope, because the Church was wealthier than most kings. C.Neither, because the power dynamic shifted between the Church and the kings. D.Neither, because the military was more powerful than both kings and popes.

Well I would not choose any of these answers because it is true that the pope was the most powerful figure in European society during the middle ages. he was powerful not because of his wealth but because of his powerful influence over the common people. I would choose B to help you out though. that seems to be the only logical answer

OpenStudy (kingofhou):

The correct answer is 'neither, because the power dynamic shifted between the Church and the kings.'
