Well, the cause of the nullification crisis is the opposition of the South and parts of the New England. It happened during the presidency of Andrew Jackson when the South Carolina created the 1832 Ordinance of Nullification declaring the Tariff of 1828 and 1832 as unconstitutional making it null and void resulting economic downturn.
