A shadow would best symbolize a secret. Someone hiding. I might need an asecond opinion on this.

Without some kind of context to put this into, there is no one right answer. As @becauseicanadtr said, it could symbolize a secret in one context, but in another it could symbolize the evil in everyone or even original sin. It could symbolize sleep or even winter. It just depends on the context. Is this question in reference to any particular materials your were assigned?
