WILL GIVE MEDALS Solve this system of equations using any method. 2x – y = 5 4x + y = 7 a. (4, –3) b. (4, –9) c.(2, –1) d.(2, –4)

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Okay!! I'm gonna teach you a method called substitution. Have you learned that already?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i was out of school for 3 weeks so im extrememly confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its c but im not sure

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Okay sorry, my computer broke for a second lol

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Okay, so substitution, as the name implies, means putting one thing in place of another. Let's review. The coordinates represent (x,y). Agree?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes ! i agree

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Okay. So, the first number in the coordinate is the value of x. The second number is the value of y. So, we will substitute the answer options into each of the x and y values in the question :)

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Let me explain. I'll do the first one, and hopefully, that'll help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay , so far so good im understanding
