8th Grade Language Help? Which sentence uses punctuation correctly? A. On Tuesdays, I have a violin lesson. B. On, Tuesdays I have a violin lesson. C. On Tuesdays I have a violin lesson. D. On Tuesdays I have, a violin lesson.

B is not correct. A is correct. Think about how it would sound like if you were saying it. You wouldn't emphasize on, you would state "On Tuesdays" as a clause. A is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Although, these sentences are phrased strangely. Normally someone would say "I have violin lessons on Tuesdays."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One helpful hint is to repeat the sentence, pausing where the comma is placed. See which sounds right.

OpenStudy (addonexus):

LoverofWords is correct. Saying "On Tuesdays" is introducing or including more information, for saying I have violin lessons is a complete thought. Also "On Tuesdays" is a dependent clause which requires a comma.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Either A or C would be correct. "On Tuesdays" is not a clause. It is a prepositional phrase. Clauses have subjects and verbs.

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

It's A. On Tuesdays, I have a violin lesson.

Wrong! It's C!! I got it wrong but I don't want everyone else too !
