Sam stores manure for his farm in a rectangular box. The length of the box is 7 feet, width is 9 inches, and height is 6 inches. Each bag of manure he bought contains 2.625 cubic feet of manure. How many bags of manure will fill the box completely? [1 foot = 12 inches]

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

144 You must first figure out how many cubic inches the box will hold. To do this multiply 7 by 12 which gives you 84. Then multiply 84 by 9 which gives you 756. Then multiply that by 6 which gives you 4536. Then you need to divide 4536 by 12 to get the number of cubic feet the box will hold which is 378. Now divide 378 by 2.625 to see how many bas of manure the box will hold which is 144 bags.
