A positive correlation between two variables, say X and Y, means that if one increases, the other will too. No correlation means that they are not related. A negative correlation means that as one increases, the other decreases.
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
umm... (idk much about this so I could be wrong)
yes A would be true
but decrease results in increase would also be considered negative correlation...
so making that they are simply related, would be most accurate
so I would've guessed B
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
yes D would make the most logical sense...
but there are cars out there that a antiques or collector's items and so the price increases as it gets older...
so go with the one that is more generally correct :)
so B. A car's value depends on its age
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think it's C
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
negative correlation is when x is increasing, y is decreasing
so points move down from left to right.

They have a negative correlation because as the number of students increases, the number of unoccupied desks decreases.
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
correct! :)
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
agreed :)
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
domain would describe time :)
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
correct :)

30 minutes? maybe?
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
sure :)
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
independent variable does on x-axis
and since number of pets depends on the number of siblings
then D. number of siblings

"the cost of the shoe depends on its size"
so size is independent.
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
"no correlation"
A. neither constantly increasing nor decreasing
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
last digit is dependent on number of letters
y-axis is for the dependent variable
so B last digit
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
number of pets would be dependent
so B would be correct! :)

C?

the label of the y-axis is the dependent variable.

B? of D? I thin kB
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
B would be correct :)
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
as his age increases, the amount of hair decreases
so it will be a negative correlation
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
last digit depends on number of letters
so D. last digit

Eitherb A or B but I think it's B
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
B would be correct :)
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
domain represents independent variable.
D number of siblings

a function has to pass the vertical line test...
as in it x values in a series of coordinates should not repeat.

B

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
umm... it wants you to make it not a function.
so either B or C
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ohhh I see, misread it oops
jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):
I'm guessing C ?

maybe C? i'm not sure they both look like they could work
