alg 1 help

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

A positive correlation between two variables, say X and Y, means that if one increases, the other will too. No correlation means that they are not related. A negative correlation means that as one increases, the other decreases.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

umm... (idk much about this so I could be wrong) yes A would be true but decrease results in increase would also be considered negative correlation... so making that they are simply related, would be most accurate so I would've guessed B

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yes D would make the most logical sense... but there are cars out there that a antiques or collector's items and so the price increases as it gets older... so go with the one that is more generally correct :) so B. A car's value depends on its age

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's C

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

negative correlation is when x is increasing, y is decreasing so points move down from left to right.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

They have a negative correlation because as the number of students increases, the number of unoccupied desks decreases.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

correct! :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

agreed :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

domain would describe time :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

correct :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

"The height of a candle varies as it burns" so D :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

30 minutes? maybe?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

sure :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

independent variable does on x-axis and since number of pets depends on the number of siblings then D. number of siblings

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

"the cost of the shoe depends on its size" so size is independent.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

"no correlation" A. neither constantly increasing nor decreasing

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

last digit is dependent on number of letters y-axis is for the dependent variable so B last digit

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

number of pets would be dependent so B would be correct! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

the label of the y-axis is the dependent variable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B? of D? I thin kB

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

B would be correct :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

as his age increases, the amount of hair decreases so it will be a negative correlation

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

last digit depends on number of letters so D. last digit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Eitherb A or B but I think it's B

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

B would be correct :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

domain represents independent variable. D number of siblings

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

you're welcome :) and have a nice day :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it's fine :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

a function has to pass the vertical line test... as in it x values in a series of coordinates should not repeat.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it might be C or D

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

I'll guess C :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's either A or D

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

umm... it wants you to make it not a function. so either B or C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh I see, misread it oops

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

I'm guessing C ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe C? i'm not sure they both look like they could work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I'll go with that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could be B or D but I'm guessing B?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

idk this one :/ sorry

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

B http://www.purplemath.com/modules/fcns.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

#6:

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

correct! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this is A

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

I think so too :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this might be D?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

well, I kinda have to babysit my little bro now...

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

see ya later... ttfn :) Have a Nice Day!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thank you for the help today, bye :)have a nice day too
