Divide the following measurements using correct significant digits. 543.2 in^2 ÷ 0.496 in 1.10 × 10^3 in 1,100 in 1,095 in 1,095.2 in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did the math but i dont understand what im doing wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not really getting either answer

Directrix (directrix):

I'll have to read up on significant digits. I have forgotten what the deal is with them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A

Directrix (directrix):

Agent Smith is coming here to help us. Hold on.

Directrix (directrix):

He's here so tell him why you chose A.

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Your final answer should be three significant figures, so what was your answer??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Since you use the number with the LEAST sig. figs, which is three in the original. 1.10 × 10^3 in is the only option with three sig. figs anyway, so they kinda made it easier.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so i am correct about my answer

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

543.2 in^2 ÷ 0.496 < the 0.496 is three sig figs, so will your answer be. 1.10 × 10^3 in <==== three 1,100 in <=== four 1,095 in <==== four 1,095.2 in <==== five

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

They kinda gave you the answer w/o making you do the math.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya thts wht i kinda figured just have to be sure
