Does anyone know anything about "ANONYMOUS"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe I do... What do you need to know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i want to know who they are and what they do you know learn all the ins and outs of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anonymous is just a group of individuals. That's pretty much it. They go under the name Anonymous and tend to be liberally, rebellious people. They use the Guy Fawkes mask (V for Vendetta Mask) as their signature icon... If you've seen V for Vendetta, you'll understand it's all about rebelling against the government in the name of righteousness. There is also a hacker named "Anonymous". Though, doubts are that it's a group of different individuals just hacking under the name that have been infamous for hacking into Playstation Network, getting into government sites, and releasing a bunch of personal information. Anonymous is also just the name people go under in a forum called 4chan. I don't want to get into detail, but pretty much it's a community of people whose usernames are all with 'Anonymous' and were just generally affiliated with the hacker Anonymous... The definition itself is "having an unknown or unacknowledged name." In which, a bunch of people pretty much use the Guy Fawkes masks to hide their faces and protest at places like Wallstreet.... There's really nothing to say, because a lot of the media and various people portray it differently. That being said, Anonymous is your everyday person. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_(group) <- if you want to hear about the Hacktivists. Any more concerns? The Internet pretty much thinks of Anonymous as rebellious and edgy teenagers though.... Mainly because once they did hit the 'mainstream' everyone within' the general age range became a fan.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is it a good idea to be affiliated with them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you want to. No one really cares.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Hi, Anonymous is a group that originated on a forum called 4Chan. The forum, itself, is largely full on NSFW content. The origins of Anonymous, which basically derives from the Anonymous imageboard they post on, is not a group, and it's not a club. You do not join Anonymous. The point of Anonymous is to remain anonymous. Saying, "I am part of Anonymous," means people know you are anonymous, and you are no longer anonymous. The first Anonymous groups were raids on forums and games, such as Gia Online and Haboo Hotel. Also, Club Penguin is notable. Google: Anonymous Haboo Raids. The original purpose was, "for teh lolz," where Anonymous would act as the deviant of the Internet, doing things for laughs, ruining lives, bullying, and making fun of people for "teh lolz." Over time, Anonymous developed into a more sophisticated form. Once Anonymous saw they could gather people in raids online, why not in real life? Soon, Anonymous took to the street to fight political action and make a stance. The new Anons view their form of Anonymous as right and justice. Whereas, the original Anonymous members see it as a joke. The majority of Anonymous' enjoy raiding and just posting NSFW, inflammatory, and troll-content to get laughs. The new version of Anonymous, the political stance, is a group of justice, and the old-version laughs at them, calling them the, "police of the internet," and in many cases, condescends them and posts satirical remarks, because, in their defense, only "12 year old's are interested in that." While it's true, Anonymous has greatly changed, they're still around.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

>Why should I. You don't even know where the idea of Anonymous, or what the actual roots of Anonymous is. By saying you're apart of Anonymous, you are thus, no longer anonymous. The whole purpose of Anonymous is to remain anonymous.

OpenStudy (dulljackel09):
