You can go with the basics, some sort of logo, business information, person information.  Or you can get more artistic.  No matter what, the business information needs to be clear.

You could also do some weird design of the words forming a picture itself. I forget exactly what that's called.

Well, there is custom font design and: http://www.letterperspectives.com/ Hmm, but I think you mean something else, like the ribbon in a drawing that spells out words.
