how to find an unknown in matrix A if it is invertible

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Welcome to OpenStudy :D You may want to read the code of conduct ( http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct ). Don't forget to click on the button called "Best Answer" to give a medal to the person who helped you :)

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

what's the matrix? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1-m 1 -1 2 1-m 2 2 -1 4-m

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

If a matrix is invertible, its determinant cannot be 0. Try to express its determinant :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is the only data given

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

sorry I don't know how to do

OpenStudy (only4u):

if it is invertible then find its determinant and equate to 0 .. find the value of eigenvalues n.. and put the that values of n one after another .. u will get matrices for different values of n
