Is there any good article, that describes shockwaves and various types discovered so far? I understand that shockwaves can only occur if there is a source which is moving at supersonic speed.. what happens the moment source stops his supersonic motion? what happens to that shockwave cone? how are shockwaves produced during detonation!? while detonating the exothermic reaction causes products to be expelled at supersonic speeds creating shockwaves?.. any help? :P.. Even Earthquake produces shockwaves right.. but what is moving at supersonic speed there?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

When you find out, tell me. I only know the first type of shockwaves you mention.

haha sure :D

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

It seems the term "shockwave" covers more than one type of phenomenon :-(

wiki says.. shockwave is a wave travelling faster than the usual wave in their medium!
