OpenStudy (kainui):

Do s and p waves from geology have any relation to the s and p orbitals from wave mechanics in quantum theory?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, not at all. for geology, p and s mean primary and secondary respectively and also p is a longitudinal wave and s is a transverse wave. However for wave mechanics, s comes from sharp and p comes from principle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope!

OpenStudy (kainui):

Ahh you're totally right thanks, d is diffuse and f is fine all comes from spectroscopy I should have known. Thanks! =D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no prob (:
