Hello! I was thinking and I personally think that you having to give your ID to become an ambie, or mod is a just a little to personal to me. I may be the only one who thinks so, but anyone who hacks into the site can get they're ID and then there would be Identity Theft. Just saying....
I kind of agree actually.
The photo ID is a safety thing for the community's benefit, not the mods/ambies'. Before the site owners and operators (i.e., the 'admins') will invest authority in us, it's nice that they can match a real world face with a real world name and address - not just some spectral online identity that may be anyone with any purpose. If anyone does successfully hack the OpenStudy Code, the last thing they're going to be interested in is a low res scanned copy of my driver's licence. And I think the point would be moot anyway, because anyone who hacks the code would probably be hired to the development team and have access to all that info anyway. ;)
