Solve Equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Go on - Try solving It - I will be here to correct you If you make any mistakes :)

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Follow @charlotte123's method from the last question. Plug in choices!

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

^ Yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so i plug in for x first right

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Yes! I will give you a start :) Try plugging -2 (Your first choice) for x In the Equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im going to use your method

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@Starr_DynastyT Good! :D

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Plug in any value for x into both equations and see which gives you the same answer i.e 4 = 4 or 7 = 7

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

^ Exactly!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i got 0.5 for -1/4time -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which subtracting 2 gave me 2

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Try again :) Remember -1/4 = -0.25! @Starr_DynastyT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it equal B -7 right

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Nope - Try again :) You can do It! @Starr_DynastyT

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Psst try 4

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@tHe_FiZiCx99 SHHHHH

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

I'm sowwie

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Oh Dear D:

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Though he was lost >.>

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Thought*

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@tHe_FiZiCx99 Now you suffer - EXPLAIN WHY THE ANSWER IS 4 OR GET MOLDY CAKE!

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

*cracks fingers* f(4) = -1/4 -> -0.25(4) - 2 = -3 g(4) = 4 - 7 = -3 -3 = -3 Yish yish sweg

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Oh man D:

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

He's afk..? *-*

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

\(\huge\color{black}{\frak{When~Plans~Fail..........~You~Run}}\)

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Instead of guessing randomly. You are given: f(x) = g(x) \[\huge -\frac{ 1 }{ 4 }x - 2 = x-7\] \[\huge 5 = \frac{ 5 }{ 4 }x\] cross multiply.. \[\huge 5 = \frac{ 5x }{ 4 }\] \[\huge 5x = 20\] \[\huge x = 4\]

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

...Who guessed?!

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

^ LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Replacing > Guessing

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

I didn't guess, I did the math.. you nub.. could've been wrong tho.. mental math lol >.<

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

LOL

OpenStudy (shamil98):

You are guessing with the numbers from the answer choices.. Guessing: Estimate or suppose (something) without sufficient information to be sure of being correct.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Do the work, and be sure instead. Saves time.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry my laptop went dead

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

That was Charlotte's method >.< .. yes I could've just just done that I guess

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Guessing - I guess you have 3 apples behind your back - Not knowing how many you have You have a chance of being Incorrect Replacing - When you take something out of Data/Information and place It for the stuff you are given - You at least get a correct answer by doing this - Especially when you have a handy dandy Calculator :)

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@tHe_FiZiCx99 I love my method - For It Is fun and easy And you get Cake when you are Correct!

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

^^

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Now excuse me - I have a test to use my skills on

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Replacing? sure you are replacing the values of x given, but you do NOT KNOW if that number is the correct solution, therefore guessing... http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/guessing Your method is useless when you are given a free response question, it is better to know how to do the problem... instead of just substituting...

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

^ LOL wtf

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@shamil98 \(\huge\color{black}{\frak{Your~Argument~Is~Invalid~Sir}}\)

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Yes lol it is @shamil98 .. what I tried to emphasize on a question and was told.. let it go, it can work like this.

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@tHe_FiZiCx99 His argument Is Invalid and his skills are Irrelevant >:D

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Peanut head =_=

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

Char lol wuuut? @shamil98 this is what I was talkin' bout, http://openstudy.com/users/%E2%99%A5lila%E2%99%A5#/updates/52b47f2ae4b02932bbbf760c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh and its 4 btw

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@Starr_DynastyT Exactly!

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

*cough* their response were invalid to mine ~ hue

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@tHe_FiZiCx99 LOLLLLLLLLLLLL

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

they deleted their responses to mine D:< .. I was right U_U

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

In Math you work with the method you are most comfortable with - As long as It Is a valid one :) That way you never end up hating the Subject LOL

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

._. this ^

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

The story of my discoveries In life

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

O.o

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

In Math at least LOL
