Should most poetry be made into songs?

I'm talking like any form of poetry. Well I suppose it is, but some songs aren't.

I don't really think any of Edgar Allen Poes works have been made into songs lol. I'm literally talking any type of poetry.

Music is anything you want it to be. You can make poetry into music by simply singing the words. Try singing any line of poetry to the tune of Happy Birthday or your favorite song or something. See? Music isn't set in stone; it has no definite rules. It is what you make it.

runningfreak is right. Your rules. Your life. Your art. Be creative. Close your eyes. Sing the words. Feel the music. It will tell you what it wants. Music has a mind of it's own.
