Is it possible to delete a question? If so how ? :)

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

you cant, everything stays on os. a mod can remove a question if there's anything against policy in it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thank you ! @beccaboo333

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You can edit the question though. if you want to, see the button that says "Edit Question" (little, in grey)

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Mods can only delete questions.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

or you can just close it

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Just a word to the wise: it is best to make sure all things are friendly in nature and don't need to be edited or deleted. See, even if you edit a question, delete an answer, delete a chat, a mod can still see it. Some people have tried using delete or change to hide their misdeeds, like people that swear in chat and then delete it.... or post a question asking to trade test answers, then edit it.... well, we still see it.

OpenStudy (blues):

Also a word to the wise - OpenStudy does keep track of all edits you make to a question. So if you were to post a question, edit it to a single space ' ' and essentially delete all the contents (which has been attempted, mostly by students trying to cheat on homework and then avoid detection by the mods and their teachers), the original contents is still on OpenStudy's server. What you cannot do is delete the fact that you posted a question - or delete it from the server. Meaning that the mods can see that you posted something, we can search back through the server and see exactly what you posted. And we take a very dim view of people who cheat, know they are cheating and then try to cover up what they've done - so the odds are your not-so-blanked question will be on OpenStudy longer than you. And the same goes for deleted questions - they are still stored on the servers, along with your username and IP addresses. So if a student is cheating and we are deleting their questions after suspending you, we can search for you by username and IP through the system, find every single instance of cheating, whether or not we deleted it from the publicly accessible site, and hand it over to your teachers, parents, whomever. Just in case anyone thought they were getting ideas...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I didn't mean as if I did something unwise and wanted to delete it .

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, in all other cases you can do what the others advised: Edit it or close it.

OpenStudy (stormswan):

can you guys read our messages though? like with another person? Not that I did anything, but I was just wondering.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Admins with database privileges could look at anything, even a personal message. Most moderators are not admins.

OpenStudy (stormswan):

oh, cool :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can't, but you can close the question. It will be in "closed questions" category, which most people won't visit.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You can edit an open question: You can delete your replies (mods will still see them) and undo your medals that you gave in open and closed question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can close a question which is pretty much the same thing as deleting it. :)
