Which of the following is the equation of a line perpendicular to the line y=-10x+1, passing through the point (5,7)? a) -1/10x+y=-13/2 b)1/10x+y=-13/2 c) 1/10x-y=-13/2 d) -1/10x-y=13/2

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

well if its orthogonal then it will have the negative reciprocal of the slope, so we know its either a or d so which one of those does the point (5,7) lie on?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

You can confirm it by seeing which equation is true when x = 5, and y = 7
