Question

Names of the stars in the neighbor hood.

When i look up in the sky.. i see so many stars. i am wondering if all the stars which we can see with naked eyes have names. I would like to learn them. I tried googling, i got no where :P.. anyone can help me with some site? or if i upload pictures from my balcony.. would any astrophysicist be able to tell me names?

Apart from the most famous, like Sirius, most stars have names given by astronomers that look horrific, but fit some pattern http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomical_naming_conventions

Some companies have claimed to sell the right to name an unnamed star after yourself, or loved one, but astronomers don't acknowledge these names as they don't help with identifying star classification. You pay the company to name it "Sarah Johnson" but astronomers will keep calling it something like SDSSp J153259.96-003944.1, so don't get tricked into thinking you can name them.

I had a friend do that for his girlfriend... got a certificate and everything lol. Completely useless.
