what is the difference between divisible by and a multiple of ...plz explain

Divisible by means that it is able to divided by.
Multiple means that, that number can be multiplied to get that other number.

I'll provide some examples:

is 18 divisible by 2? yes.
18/2 = 9

is 2 a multiple of 18? yes
2 x 9 = 18

What are some multiples of 2, the multiples are the numbers that you can multiply by.


The multiples of 2 are :
2 , 4 , 6 , 8 , 10 , 12...
The multiples of 4 are :
4 , 8 , 12 , 16 , 20 ...

2 x 1 = 2
2 x 2 = 4
2 x 3 = 6
