Admins can ip ban whereas mods can only ban an account. Kick just "kicks" a particular user out of a group. But he can join it again if he want. It is used to give a small warning when someone is going bad.

The intent of kick is basically when you have someone that is spamming at that moment it allows you to stop them.  Personally I wish it had like a 5 minute timeout attached to it with a generic message, but that is me.

There is also another part of the site where we can review what all moderators have done, but don't expect to see that unless you become one.  All moderation is a private thing.  I just bring it up to explain part of how we see who has been warned before, for what, etc.
