Solve for x: −2x − 4 > 8 x < −6 x > −6 x < −2 x > −2 its the third one right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its the second one..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because -2x > 8 + 4 -2x > 12 x > 12/-2 therefore x > -6 if you bring 8 to the LHS and -2x to the RHS, you get the same thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much

OpenStudy (zpupster):

no its the first one when you divided by -2 you have to flip the inequality sign x < −6

OpenStudy (zpupster):

also if you test your answers you will see it is wrong

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

-2y - 4 > 8 --- add 4 to both sides -2y > 12 -- divide by -2 and change the sign y < -6 zpupster is correct
