to factor vs to factorize?

No one cares. The ONLY consideration, in my opinion, is the length. Recommend: "Factor"
But how would you factor something? Woulnd't you find the factor?
Try to remember that dictionaries are histories, not the law! Words often change meaning over time and across geography. It is possible that "factorize" is most proper in many situations. It is still cumbersome. In my opinion, you can either factor or factorize in order to find the factors.
