Hi - on PS 4, question 1, the example key seems to have both lower and upper case x mapping to ' ' when shift is 3. How could this be decoded properly when we can't know whether it was upper or lower case to begin with?

Indeed the coding/decoding won't be perfect according to the problem set's specification due to this lack of bijection. This won't be the only place of ambiguity either as you will discover in the later part of the assignment.
