Describe how prokaryotes regulate gene expression?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Prokaryotes generally regualte gene expression via DNA binding proteins (DBP) that modulate expression levels. The Lac operon is a pretty good example of this. Regulation of gene expression has also developed evolutionarily by the formation of operons (many genes that can be transcribed all at once) and modification (through mutation, etc) of promotor sequences).
