Compare and contrast Hughes's "Harlem" and Mckay's "America"
Hi Katie! Okay so both of course were leaders of the Harlem Renaissance, one being African American the other Jamaican. It is very interesting to compare the two since one of them is of course talking about an African American's struggle and the other about a dream deferring, though not very obvious at first, they mesh pretty well once we get the hang of "Raisin in the sun" which is a play by Lorraine Hansberry from the 50s- it portrays again, the struggle of an African American family at the time. Can pick it up from there
In a sense I like to think that "Harlem", more or less, captures what "America" is trying to achieve
