Hi! I am using GIMP and I have to apply a filter effect to text. It gave me these instructions In the Layers window, right-click on your text layer. From the right-click menu, select Alpha to Selection. Make your text look chunky by doing: On the Edit menu, click Stroke Selection. In the Stroke Selection dialog box, set the Line Width to 15 pixels. Click Stroke. I can't get this to work it just makes the background of the text all smeared.

Give me a second on this one, I need to go through what you have here and I'm currently on a computer that doesn't have GIMP.

Ok :)

This is actually good because I've been meaning to put GIMP on this computer for a while but have been putting it off. lol give me about five minutes to download and install. Thanks.

It looks like it's working right, but I think your font is too small perhaps. Let me experiment with these detailed instructions for a few minutes.

Ok thanks

Yup your advice worked: https://hostr.co/file/124HBn9tFaOL/Screenshot-on-2013-12-28-at-15.02.54.png I used a bigger font and it worked :) Thank you sir.

OpenStudy (jagatuba):

Yeah. otherwise lower the stroke. I ended up with a similar result as your instructions by using 6.0pt stroke on a 64 pt courier font.
