for every meter 'n', that you descent into water, 7% of light is blocked. Determine v, the percent of light still remaining for n meters. (at the surface is 100% light) I got V=100(1-0.07)^n, but according to the answer key, this is incorrect D:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer says that its v=100(1-o.93)^n?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well 100% = 1, so instead it should be V = (0.93)^n, where n greater than or equal to 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. I think I kinda figured it out now. Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well except mine will gives a number between 0 and 1, so to convert to percentage, multiply by 100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer in your book gives a number between 0 and 100, which is already converted to percentage. So really mine and yours are equivalent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok. thanks for helping :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait I have another question, I just realised that you didn't put 1- in front of the 0.93. why is that so? @sourwing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the question asks for the percentage that is still REMAINING.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 - 0.07 = 0.93

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OHHHH! ok thanks! it is getting really late here lol... but really thanks so much!
