identify the scale factor if the length of the model train engine is 27 inches and the length of the engine itself is 36 feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 inch = 0.083333 feet, then 27 inches = 2.25 feet. Scale factor = 2.25 : 36 = 1 : 16

How... what? is it not clear to you? Try to think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There was no equation to solve. Scale factor = Length of model engine/ Length of actual engine. Because of different unit (inch and feet), you must unify to 1 unit only. In this case, I made the unification to unit of "feet". You can search for google: 1 inch = ... feet. The rest thing is just substitute and divide like I did

ok, i got something thats really weird bout works, i guess
