A company produces accessories for smart phones and tablets. The profit on each smart phone case is $2 and the profit on each tablet case is $3. The company made a profit of $1,200 on the cases last month. The equation 2x + 3y = 1,200 represents the company's profit from cases last month, where x is the number of smart phone cases sold and y is the number of tablet cases sold. 1. Write the equation in function notation and then graph the function making sure to label the intercepts.

So I put f(x) = -2x/3 + 400 for the function, but I'm not sure if that's right and I'm a little confused about how to graph it

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

the function seem correct to me :) then y-intercept is when x=0 and the x-intercept is when y=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thanks (: So then for the graph would I just plot a point on (0,400) and then from there go two units down and three to the right and plot the second one?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yep! :)

Alrighty, thanks for your help!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

you're welcome :)
