Determine whether the relation is a function. {(-5, -4), (-2, 9), (-1, -2), (-1, 7)}

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Hello and Welcome to Openstudy! :) a relation is a set of ordered pairs a function is a relation with only unique (non-repeated) x-values so if x-values are (x, y) then are any of them repeated?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's not a function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if x values return one and only one y value then it is a function. if an x value returns more than one y value, it is not a function

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Determine whether the relation is a function. {(-7, -1), (-7, 2), (-1, 8), (3, 3), (10, -7)}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a function {(-7, -1), (-7, 2), (-1, 8), (3, 3), (10, -7)}

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

same idea as before :) are any x-values repeated?
