please help! Nicholas has $13 to order a pizza. The pizza costs $7.50 plus $1.25 per topping. He plans to tip 15% of the total cost of the pizza. Write and solve an inequality to find how many toppings he can order. please explain. thank you.

let n be the number of topping, than the total cost of the pizza is T = 7.50 + 1.25n He plans to give 15% tips. So he pay a total of 1.15T. And he las $13 1.15 (7.50 + 1.25n) ≤ 13

i didn't really get this problem, either. it was homework, you see, so my teacher corrected it, and wrote the answer in, but i'm not sure what she did to solve the problem.

yeah, the inequality is really long. @sourwing i'm saying that the inequality that you wrote is wrong, according to my teacher's answer. here is my teacher's answer: 7.5 +1.25x+0.15(7.5+1.25x)<13 That is from the teacher's answer book. I need you to kindly explain it to me.

They are both equivalent.

The inequality signs are certainly not equivalent, as far as I could tell.

what? i meant the inequality sign being 13> etc. etc. etc. is that what you meant?

no, n ≤ 3 whis the same as 3 ≥ n

my teacher wrote the sign as 13> .... > isn't the same as >=
